HP 3450 Printer Review

Designed for personal use, the HP Deskjet 3450 is a single-function inkjet printer. So many vendors are coming out with all-in-one devices that have snazzy features. They are intended for businesses to improve efficiency and quality, but for home users, it is just too much. No college student or family man needs to be spending hundreds of dollars on a complicated printer when basic ones are available for much less and will satisfy their needs in the same way.

With only two HP 3450 ink cartridges, the maximum resolution this unit can produce is 600x600 dpi. Dpi means dots per inch, which is a measure of the drop-on-demand thermal technology. Nozzles release Deskjet 3450 ink in picoliters and layer them using REt, which is Resolution Enhanced technology.

Using exclusively black HP 3450 ink, up to 10 pages per minute can be printed. When using color printer ink, only 8 pages per minute will be produced. Needless to say, this isn't the most efficient machine, but it will do. It is compatible with Windows and Mac, as well as most other operating systems. The 3450 can print on various canvases, including envelopes, labels and photo paper.

The black Deskjet 3450 ink cartridge has a page yield of 220 pages, while the tricolor tank can only yield 290 pages. The tricolor tank is filled with cyan, magenta and yellow printer ink. The capacity of the HP 3450 ink tanks is definitely not impressive, but users who only need a printer for basic needs, like book reports or flight itineraries, will not need to get replacements often.

The 3450 has a monthly duty cycle of 500 pages, so clearly it is not meant for high-volume use. The best thing about this inkjet printer is its reliability and longevity. Users will not only be pleased with this purchase, but they will not have to get a new printer for a long time.
