For those looking for a first personal inkjet printer, the HP Deskjet 3325 could make an excellent choice. It caters to the needs of home users with a very simple interface and control panel, and a compact size that isn't too bulky for a home office. Print speeds are slow, at up to 6 pages per minute with only black Deskjet 3325 ink and 3 pages per minute in color, but for light-duty use, it shouldn't be a major disadvantage. Buyers will like the fact that HP 3325 ink prices help them save on printer ink.

Given its remarkably affordable price, it is somewhat surprising to find that the 3325 provides such high-quality output, but it features a 600 dpi printing resolution for regular prints, and 1200 dpi for photos. Obviously, this extra resolution takes its toll on print speed, but it will be worth it for the occasional photo. The unit works equally well with both Mac and Windows machines, with very little setup required.

There are a few disappointments when it comes to printer ink, as this inkjet uses two HP 3325 ink cartridges. Unfortunately, only one of the Deskjet 3325 ink cartridges is included in the box, the tricolor model. This means buyers will have to buy the black HP 3325 ink separately, but prices are low enough that this isn't a major downside.

Customer reviews of the 3325 are generally favorable, with users liking its low price and excellent print quality the most. Numerous users complained about its slow speeds, however, and wished they had spent a bit more for a faster machine. Potential buyers should consider this factor before purchase.

For those who don't mind slower speeds but want a very low price and solid print quality, the HP 3325 could be a great choice. With so many models costing only a little more and offering much better speed, however, it is difficult to recommend it.
