HP 3300 Printer Review

The HP LaserJet 3300 is a monochrome laser printer with multifunction features, designed for the personal or small office user. The printer offers decent print quality, but slow speeds and many lacking features put it well behind the competition, like the HP M1522 that features HP CB436A toner.

The multifunction features of the LaserJet 3300 include printing, copying, and scanning. It includes no fax capabilities, which is rare in a multifunction device. Furthermore, the unit includes no automatic document feeder for automatic scanning or copying, making both of these features less appealing to use.

The design of the unit is fairly compact. Its footprint is small, allowing it to fit in some tight space, but it is bulkier on the top due to its scanning and copying unit than it is on the bottom. The paper tray juts out near the bottom, meaning it will need more space in the front than its measurements would lead one to believe.

The front panel features a two-line LCD screen and a large array of buttons. Many of HP printers go for simplicity, especially in their control panels, but the HP 3300 has so many buttons on its front panel that it can be quite confusing. The manual explains all functions in detail, but it is not always intuitive to carry out functions without instructions.

Print speed is generally pretty slow, around 13 pages per minute, but passable. Print quality is a mixed bag. Text is mostly good, but loses definition at smaller font sizes. Graphics quality is below average and unimpressive, unlike Xerox 6180 and its needed Xerox 113R00724 toner. Unfortunately, the HP 3300 really falls behind the competition in print quality and in speed.

The HP LaserJet 3300 toner cartridge has a low capacity which will be fine for a personal or small office user. At 3,500 pages per HP 3300 toner cartridge, the HP LaserJet 3300 toner is the perfect size for the HP printer it was designed for. The HP 3300 toner cartridge is also quite easy to install. It also offers a low cost per page, like HP CE505A toner.

Overall, the HP LaserJet 3300 is a good multifunction laser printer, but its below-average speed and print quality make it difficult to recommend. Lack of faxing capabilities and an automatic document feeder make the HP 3300 less appealing as a multifunction device.
