The HP Photosmart 2710 inkjet printer is an all-in-one (AIO) that that measures 18.3x14.6x8.3 inches. At 18.7 pounds, it meets expectations for an inkjet AIO. It is a lightweight machine given that it is meant for office use and has a duty cycle of 5000 sheets. The product features a single 150-sheet input tray. The HP 2710 inkjet printer accepts cards, labels, envelopes, photo paper, plain paper and transparencies.

The HP Photosmart 2710 inkjet printer is a PC and Mac compatible device. The rated print speeds are 30 ppm for monochrome and 20 ppm for color prints. The maximum print resolutions that can be achieved with this machine are 1200 x1200 dpi for monochrome. Color documents can be viewed at a maximum resolution of 4800 x1200 dpi. The digital copier onboard can deliver 99 copies at a time. The user can enlarge and reduce documents to 400% and 25% of the original size. The HP 94 Black and HP 95 Tricolor are the HP 2710 ink cartridges used for this product. The HP2710 ink cartridges offer a page yield of 480 pages and330 pages, respectively, which is pretty fair for this caliber of printer ink.

The media card slots support SmartMedia, CompactFlash, Memory Stick, MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card and xD-Picture Card. PictBridge compatibility means that the consumer can print from the Photosmart 2710 without routing the function on the computer. A 3.5 inch image display screen enables editing, rotation and cropping of images before printing. The 48-color flatbed scanner on the Photosmart 2710 lets the consumer scan documents as well as 3-D objects. The Image Zone software that ships with the inkjet printer enables easy organizing of images; it contains an OCR component for editing scanned text. The fax element offers standalone and PC faxing. It can store up to 60 pages at a time.

The HP 2710xi inkjet printer is a compatible model. Though it looks to have the same functionality as the 2710, HP does not clearly define differences on the website. However, the two models do use the same HP 2710 ink.

The HP 2710 printer yields good text and photo prints. It does well in terms of print and scanning speeds. It has low printer ink consumption. Standalone faxing is a useful aspect for businesses that use this feature regularly. Wired and wireless networking apart from USB connectivity enables businesses to use this device from multiple terminals. However, duplexing and auto document feeding which are standard features for office-oriented machines are missing.
