Both duplicates and print jobs can be produced with a crisp maximum resolution of 4800x1200 dpi using color HP 2600 ink and 1200 dpi when printing with black printer ink.

The 2600 is able to produce such fine and precise results because it uses a color printer ink system that covers a wide spectrum of color. This includes a required tricolor HP 2600 ink cartridge of cyan, magenta, and yellow as well as an individual black but the photo gray and photo color are optional. Due to low yields of only around 330 pages for the tricolor PhotoSmart 2600 ink cartridge, 130 for the photo color and 80 for the photo gray, this machine is best used at home.
