Gestetner P7535 Printer Review
The Gestetner P7535 is a fairly impressive desktop laser printer with networking capabilities and solid speeds of up to 35 pages per minute. It also has a quick first page out time of 6.5 seconds, and a sharp output resolution of 1200 dpi. Its paper capacity is adequate for an office of multiple users as well, but the cost of Gestetner P7535 printer toner is high for small office budgets.
The P7535 is sometimes referred to as the P7535N, due to its built-in ethernet port for network sharing, allowing it to be used by multiple people in an office. It also includes parallel and USB ports, which are likely to see less use. The unit measures 13.5x18.8x17.2 inches, and it weighs just 44 pounds, even with the Gestetner P7535 toner supply in place. This makes it relatively compact and good for desktop use.
In addition to the maximum resolution of 1200 dpi, it can also operate at 600 and 300 dpi, the latter of which still produce readable documents but helps reduce the usage of toners. The input paper capacity includes a 500-sheet main tray and a second 100-sheet bypass tray for alternative media. This can be expanded to a maximum of 1,600 sheets if needed.
Small office users may encounter some sticker shock when replacing Gestetner P7535 toner cartridges, as they are quite expensive. This is helped somewhat by the fact that Gestetner P7535 toner cartridges can each yield around 20,000 pages, but the cost per page is not as low as some competing models.
With a solid paper capacity, good print speeds, and excellent output quality, the P7535 makes a good choice for small offices. Its operating costs can be high, however, and some offices might require quite a few upgrades before it can meet their needs.
