Gestetner F9103 Printer Review
Buyers who need a dedicated laser fax machine may be few and far between these days, but the Gestetner F9103 delivers exactly that. Although it can handle basic copying and has an optional print module that can output at up to 15 pages per minute, its main function is fast and efficient faxing. With a compact design and affordable Gestetner F9103 printer toner supplies, it is an excellent choice for the small office.
With a 33.6 Kbps Super G3 modem, the unit can send and receive at about 3 seconds per page. It also has the capability for users to scan pages into memory while a fax is being received or printed, acting almost like a dual-line device without the extra cost. The automatic document feeder can hold up to 50 pages at a time for unattended scanning, up to 30 quick dial numbers, 50 speed dial numbers, and 5 groups can be stored for easy access.
The device measures 16.4x17.9x19.8 inches, and weighs just 40.8 pounds, though this doesn't include the weight of the single Gestetner F9103 toner cartridge. Paper handling is divided between a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet bypass tray. Adding an extra 500-sheet tray is an option, and allows it to handle heavier workloads without the need for constant replenishment.
Users only have a choice of one size for Gestetner F9103 toner supplies, which somewhat limits options. Still, each Gestetner F9103 toner cartridge has an estimated yield of 6,000 pages, so the cost per page is low enough for small budgets. Larger toners might have been a nice option for offices with heavy workloads, however.
In a world that is quickly moving away from faxing, the Gestetner F9103 may be losing a lot of its appeal. This solid fax machine still has a lot to offer for heavy fax users, however, and its low operating costs make it an excellent value.
