The Gestetner DSm416 has the kind of advanced multifunction features one would expect in a larger machine, but this compact laser printer is a good fit for a small office. Its print speeds of up to 16 pages per minute are a bit slow, but expandable paper capacity and very affordable Gestetner DSm416 printer toner supplies make it well worth a look for a growing office.

In addition to the base model, buyers also have a choice of the DSm416f model with faxing capabilities or the DSm416pf with printing and faxing both included. The latter is the best value, combining four different functions in one machine. The unit measures 19.3x19x17.7 inches, with a weight of just under 60 pounds that also includes the Gestetner DSm416 toner supply.

The base model comes with a flatbed scanning surface as well as an automatic document feeder that holds up to 50 sheets. The copy and print resolution of 600 dpi ensures sharp output, and users can resize copies from 50 to 200% of the original. Models that include printing have an ethernet port so it can be shared across the network, and wireless and Bluetooth support can be added with optional upgrades. The paper capacity is also upgradeable from the standard 350 sheets to a maximum of 850 sheets.

Standard Gestetner DSm416 toner cartridges have a capacity of around 7,000 pages, but there is no option for a higher-yield supply. Compatible Gestetner DSm416 toner cartridges are available for lower prices than OEM versions, helping users reduce their operating costs even lower.

With the option to pick and choose the functions a buyer needs most, affordable toners, and solid output quality, the DSm416 is easy to recommend. Some buyers may find its output speeds a little slow for their needs, however.
