Epson XP-310 Printer Review

The Epson Expression Home XP-310 is a color inkjet printer with a focus on photos, but it can also scan and copy. Its ISO speeds of 8.7 pages per minute for black and 4.5 pages per minute for color are pretty impressive, and the cost of Epson XP-310 printer ink won't break the budget, though it's not as affordable as some competing models.

The focus on photo output begins with the 1.44-inch LCD screen. Although it's a bit small, it provides a good preview of images when loading from the included memory card slots or mobile printing methods. Users can use Epson's iPrint mobile app to print from smartphones and tablets, or using AirPrint and Google Cloud Print as well.

The XP-310 is a great fit for a small desk space. When trays are closed, the unit measures only 5.7x15.4x11.8 inches, and it weighs just less than 10 pounds, even including the Expression Home XP-310 printer ink.

The machine was fairly well-received by critics. Reviewers liked its fast speeds and network features, as well as its mobile printing functions. Reviewers did find the cost of Epson XP-310 ink to be a little high, however.

The cost of replacement Expression Home XP-310 ink cartridges are in line with many competing models, but page yields are a little low. Each color Epson XP-310 ink cartridge provides only 165 pages, with the black supply providing up to 175 pages. "XL" versions are available for a lower cost per page, however.

For buyers who want a basic inkjet model that produces excellent photos, it's hard to go wrong with the XP-310. Its compact frame and low price are appealing, but some busy users might find its limited capacities and small display to be significant drawbacks.
