Epson XP-100 Printer Review

The Epson Expression Home XP-100 is referred to by the manufacturer as a "small-in-one" inkjet printer, and that is a very apt term. Fitting printing, scanning, and copying features into such a compact device is no small feat, and yet it still prints at up to 13 pages per minute in color and 26 pages per minute. Small capacities for Epson XP-100 printer ink could mean trouble for users who print a lot, however.

To achieve such a small frame, it is not surprising that a few things had to be left out. The XP-100 lacks an automatic document feeder, for example, though its flatbed scanning surface can accept media up to A4 in size, and has a scanning resolution of up to 600x1200 dpi. The control panel is also more simplified than more expensive models in its line, without extras like a full-color LCD screen.

Connectivity options were sacrificed somewhat, with only a USB port for connection, and no networking options at all. The small paper tray holds up to 100 sheets, but this should be adequate for an individual user. None of these sacrifices are unexpected or particularly egregious, but buyers should be aware of what they are getting.

When it comes time for replacement Expression Home XP-100 ink cartridges, buyers won't be too upset at the price, but they may find they are replacing the Epson XP-100 ink cartridges more frequently than expected, as they have fairly small capacities. The black Epson XP-100 printer ink supply provides up to 175 pages, while each individual color supply provides up to 165 pages.

Buyers who are very light on available space will probably find the XP-100 inkjet printer the most appealing. Its speed and quality are both pretty solid, but replacement Expression Home XP-100 ink may be needed sooner than users would like.
