Epson WF-5190 Printer Review

The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-5190 is a network-capable color inkjet printer designed for small workgroups. With speeds of up to 20 ISO pages per minute for both black and color prints, it can handle busy workloads, and inexpensive Epson WF-5190 printer ink supplies can handle color printing at much lower costs than a laser model.

The unit measures 15.1x18.1x25.8 inches, so it is a little large to share a desk with, but it won't consume a lot of space in an office. It is light enough to move around without assistance, however, as it weighs only 25 pounds, even with the WorkForce Pro WF-5190 printer ink installed. The main paper tray holds up to 250 sheets, but a second 250-sheet tray is available as an upgrade. This also includes an 80-sheet rear feed tray.

The WF-5190 includes a nice variety of connection options, including a USB port for connection to a single PC and an ethernet port for wired networking. Wireless support is included, as well as Wi-Fi Direct support. Epson's mobile apps allow for printing from or scanning to a variety of smartphones and tablets, but it also supports Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print protocols.

Inkjet supplies tend to be more affordable for color printing on a smaller scale, and Epson WF-5190 ink cartridges are no exception. The standard WorkForce Pro WF-5190 ink cartridges can provide 300-350 pages of output. High-capacity Epson WF-5190 ink supplies are also available, which help to lower the cost per page.

While it doesn't have a lot of flashy marquee features, the Epson WF-5190 excels at producing fast, high-quality color prints for a small office. Buyers may miss the sharper quality of a laser for standard documents, but it makes a great compromise for those who need a lot of color output.
