The Epson Expression Premium XP-620 is marketed as a small-in-one inkjet printer, and for good reason. Not only is it quite compact, but it still includes printing, scanning, and copying features for a low price. Standard documents print at ISO speeds of 13 pages per minute for black and 10 pages per minute for color, and prices for Expression Premium XP-620 printer ink won't break the budget.

The XP-620 improves on one of the biggest downsides of the similar XP-520 model with a larger 2.7-inch touchscreen control panel. This makes previewing photos and navigating menus easier, and is worth the upgrade in price. Along with the standard USB port, the unit supports Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct, and also includes memory cards on the front for direct photo printing. Mobile printing is supported via Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print as well.

The XP-620 is still fairly limited when it comes to paper handling. It can hold only 100 sheets in the input tray and 30 sheets in the output tray. It does support a wide variety of media, however, including photo media, and it has a 20-sheet dedicated photo tray. It also has the ability to print on CDs and DVDs specially designed for inkjet printing.

The printer uses five Epson XP-620 printer ink cartridges, including cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and photo black. The color supplies have an estimated yield of 300 pages, while the black Expression Premium XP-620 ink cartridges are rated for 250 pages. Multiple quality settings are available to help users reduce the amount of Epson XP-620 ink used per page.

The XP-620 improves on the drawbacks of the less expensive model in its lineup, and ends up a well-rounded machine. Its solid print speeds and sharp quality combined with affordable Epson XP-620 ink make it an excellent value for photo-centric home users.
