A wider version of the 7880 series, the Epson StylusPro 9880 is also designed to meet the needs of graphic art firms and photography studios that produce very large prints. A 44-inch width of media allows for custom projects and presentation materials for larger businesses. The stand-alone unit needs some room to place. It claims a price in the mid four figures relegating it to mainly commercial uses.

Its size of 47.84" x 68.08" x 27.12" requires adequate space. This should be looked at before purchasing. The weight of 198 pounds is a concern, also. Resolution of up to 2880 x 1440 dpi can turn out excellent borderless photos from 10 to 44 inches in width. Roll media can be loaded onto a spindle just under the cover. This allows for continuous printing with the special inkjet head. A 9-color Epson ink cartridge system provides a very wide spectrum of color. Cartridges are large capacity available in 110 ml and 220 ml capacities to extend replacement intervals. All come with the Epson UltraChrome K3 inks claimed to last 200 years.

Like the 7880 interfaces include USB and ethernet ports for fast transmission of data. Windows and Mac platforms are readily supported to enable fast easy setup. Software is included to optimize this.
