For all prints, only two Epson 777 ink cartridges are needed. One is filled with black printer ink, and the other is a tricolor inkjet tank. The tricolor Epson 777 ink contains the colors cyan, magenta and yellow and must be changed each time and individual color runs out. This may get a little pricey over the life of the printer if OEM products are used.
There are two alternatives to using OEM ink, and one is good and one is bad. The first type is very dangerous and harmful to your printer—refilled Stylus Color 777 ink cartridges. Refilled cartridges are basically drilled and then filled, generally are sketchy because they can result in damage to your machine. The second option is both safe and affordable though, and that is using remanufactured Epson 777 ink from third party vendors. Not only do these cost a lot less than the OEM version, but they work just as well and will last just as long too. Stylus Color 777 ink tanks are definitely a smart way to go.
As far as speeds go, this machine is a little bit slow, printing at only 8 pages per minute maximum. It can, however print with resolutions of 2280x720 dpi, which will give buyers stellar results. Many media types, like envelopes and iron-on transfers are even supported.
