The Epson Stylus Color 1160 is an inkjet printer for large format printing needs and photo printing capabilities. It came out at the beginning of this decade and made waves with it's speed and breathtaking prints. Epson tends to manufacturer higher end units with high price tags, and the 1160 is no different. However, for businesses that need a lot of oversized prints, such as banners or posters, the price is just right.
This Stylus 1160 is an A3 printer, which is designed to handle bigger papers, but can print on many smaller options, such as envelopes, greeting cards and clothing transfers. The high quality Epson 1160 ink adapts to almost any kind of paper. This inkjet unit is equipped with USB and parallel ports, and has a memory of 256KB.
There are only two Stylus Color 1160 ink cartridges, one black and one color. The color tank consists of cyan, magenta and yellow. These Epson 1160 ink cartridges allow printing at a maximum resolution of 1440x720 dpi in color and 300x300 dpi in only black printer ink.
The MicroPiezo printhead found in this unit has two technologies—MicroDot and Variable-Sized Droplet. UltraMicroDot is the tiny dots of Stylus Color 1160 ink that are dispensed onto the paper. Variable-Sized Droplet is the determination of the necessary size of the droplets. The smaller the drop, the more accurate and precise the color is going to be. If there were to be an image of people outside, the smaller droplets of Epson 1160 ink would be used for faces and clothes and objects. The bigger droplets, up to 19pl, would be used for the sky or background, where not as much precision is needed.
This is a good printer with high quality printer ink and beautiful results. It is big in size and cost, but it can also save consumers money with the services the Epson Stylus Color 1160 provides.
