The Dell W5600 is a compact laser printer that will work best in a small office environment. While not the fastest in its class, it offers solid performance, and includes network support for easy sharing among multiple users. High capacity Dell W5600 printer toner supplies are a nice bonus, but their high costs keep the model from being affordable to operate.

The model is alternately referred to as the W5600N, thanks to its network support, with an ethernet port for connecting to an existing office network. The main paper tray holds up to 500 sheets of plain paper, but upgrades are available for either a 250 or 500-sheet optional drawer to add more capacity. A multipurpose feeder is included for specialty media, and it can hold up to 100 sheets.

With print speeds of up to 45 pages per minute, the W5600 is no slouch when it comes to performance. It also provides high-quality output, able to support a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi for sharp prints with a lot of detail. Those who prefer to use it as a personal device will be glad to know a USB 2.0 port is included, though its network sharing option is one of its main draws.

Expensive toners are a common issue with most laser models. Although replacement Dell W5600 toner cartridges have large capacities of 21,000 or 32,000 pages, the cost is pretty high. This means Dell W5600 toner cartridges don't provide the low cost per page of some of its competition. Even remanufactured Dell W5600 toner is costly.

The W5600 has a solid array of features, with fast speeds and excellent output quality. This would be enough to make it easy to recommend if it weren't for the high cost of supplies. As a result, buyers should probably keep looking for a more cost-effective model.
