The silver gray monochromatic Dell M5200n laser printer is network ready, expandable and, at under $1000.00, a great buy. For color printing, evaluate the Dell 2130cn toner printer. The unit delivers a 35 page per minute print speed at 1200 dpi by 1200 dpi resolution, but in real world test it averaged at about 20 pages per minute, on par with most models in it class. This is made possible with a 300 MHz processor and 64 MB of RAM expandable to 320 MB.

Enhancements and expandability are great features of the Dell M5200n laser printer, also referred to as the M5200 or 5200n. Standard is a 500 sheet paper tray and when maxed out the capacity of input sheets rises to 2,600 sheets, an impressive number for under a grand. You can add on a variety of extras to the M5200n like an envelope feeder that holds 85 envelopes, or the duplexing unit which attaches to the back of the machine. Although there is a great deal of paper handling the trays feel light weight and are made of a thin plastic giving a less than sturdy feeling, a small hindrance. Graphics are printed slightly faster than some of the competition at 11 pages per minute and with clear quality.

Dell M5200n laser toner cartridges have a large capacity of 21,000 pages for the single black printer toner cartridge. This is an excellent capacity to go with its such expandability options. Toner cartridge costs can be lowered by buying compatible Dell M5200n toner cartridges rather than the name-brand laser toner cartridges. By choosing this more economical option, costs per page can also be lowered. While some users may wish for color printing, it is worth noting the much lower per-page costs compared to color printers, such as the high per-page costs of Laserjet 2600 toner.

The printer toner cartridge is stored in a single access panel for easy removal and replacement, and a single sheet feeder is inside as well with a back slot that opens for larger sheets to be passed through straight. Installation of the unit is very straight forward and takes no time at all.
