Dell 944 ink cartridges are affordable and easy to replace in this light-duty printer and would be a good choice for a student or home office. Offices would probably prefer a unit like that WorkCentre C2424 that uses high-yielding Xerox 108R00663 ink.

This printer can produce an output resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi and uses two Dell 944 inkjet cartridges for black or four-color printing. In addition, you can also purchase the optional Dell 944 ink cartridge made just for photo printing which will produce six-color results. There are printers that have separate tanks for each color of ink, such as Canon CLI-221Y ink. This printer does not have an automatic document feeder for large jobs or a built-in fax modem, but you can scan documents straight to your computer and use faxing software instead.
