Canon S300 Printer Review
The Canon S300 was manufactured and released along with 2 other similar inkjet printers. The S300 is the cheapest and fastest of them all; however, it is designed for lower capacity photo printing. For consumers looking to print a lot of vivaciously colored photos, they should opt for the S500 or S630. These models have individual printer ink tanks, which not only provide more precise color schemes, but also are less expensive and less wasteful to replace. The S300 has only 2 Canon S300 ink cartridges, a black and a tri-color.
The output speed is impressive on the Canon S300. It can print up to 11 pages per minute using black printer ink and up to 7.5 pages per minute in color. The nozzle technology found in most inkjet units is used to dispense 5 picoliter droplets per inch (dpi). This gives images a maximum resolution of 2400x1200dpi, which is 38% higher than the resolution of the S300 predecessor, the S200. Black Canon S300 ink ejects from 320 nozzles, while the cyan, magenta and yellow each use 128 nozzles.
There are various options for types of paper the S300 can print on, such as letter, legal, A4, A5, B5, 4x6 and envelopes. It has a memory of 56kb, a simple USB interface and is compatible with both Windows and Mac. It also has an auto alert system that informs users when the Canon S300 ink is low. The genuine replacements range from $10 to $25, but compatible Canon S300 ink cartridges are available at a much lower cost.
Most users are satisfied with the Canon S300. For the high speed and crystal clear color quality, paying less than $100 for it seems like a steal. Anyone in the market for a standard capacity, lower end color printer should lean toward the S300 because it is the best option.
