Several years ago, the idea of a portable printer of any kind was difficult to imagine, but today the Canon PIXMA iP110 mobile inkjet printer makes it a reality. It can output sharp photos and even handle business documents up to 8.5x11 inches in size. It can operate on battery power for true portability, and Canon iP110 printer ink is inexpensive to replace.

For a portable model, the iP110 has impressive output speeds, at up to 9 images per minute for black and 5.8 images per minute for color. Unlike some portable models that require each sheet to be fed individually, the unit has an automatic sheet feeder that can hold up to 50 pages at once. Both Windows and Mac operating systems are supported, as well as mobile devices.

It supports USB and PictBridge connections, but also has wireless support. Mobile support comes in the form of Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Canon's own apps. The cloud printing functions also allows users to easily print from Dropbox, Facebook, and other online services quickly and easily. With the PIXMA iP110 printer ink supplies in place, the unit weighs just 4.3 pounds, and it measures 2.5x12.7x7.3 inches, making it very portable.

The inkjet system uses only two Canon iP110 ink cartridges: one black and one combined tricolor supply. This makes it much easier to replace the PIXMA iP110 ink cartridges, but might result in a bit more waste. Those looking to save money may want to consider compatible Canon iP110 ink instead of OEM versions, which cost quite a bit more.

The iP110 won't likely replace the need for a standard printer, despite the fact that it can do an excellent job of both documents and photos. Instead, it works well as an extra portable model for occasionally printing on the go, and its low supply costs make it a decent value.
