Canon PC1061 Printer Review
The Canon PC1061 laser copier is designed for the home or small office user. Its robust feature set and fast speeds make it an excellent choice, while its affordable price and economical toner usage will appeal to users on a budget. For those looking for a big more out of a machine, the HP M2727 toner printer has the same capacity and price, but with a few more features.
The Canon PC1061 laser copier is a dedicated copy machine in a world of multifunction devices, but it sets itself apart by being faster, higher-quality, and less expensive than most of those competing machines. Also, many users prefer a dedicated machine for copying, as it allows them to keep that machine free while doing other tasks.
The unit measures 15 inches by 19 inches by 17 inches, and weighs a slightly hefty 53 pounds, which is about the size of some multifunction devices. Some of this extra bulk comes from its large paper capacity, however. The main drawer has a capacity of 500 sheets and its multipurpose tray can hold up to 100 sheets, depending on the media type. These features are a bit better than that of the HP P1006 toner printer.
The unit has a wide variety of copy features, such as reduction and enlargement from 50 to 200%, and can also zoom in 1% increments. It has manual and automatic exposure adjustments, and collating options.
Canon PC1061 toner cartridges have a capacity of around 5,000 pages. Using the toner save mode will allow users to get more from each copier toner cartridge, with only a slight reduction in quality. The laser toner cartridge uses a single cartridge system, combining the toner and drum into a single consumable, for added convenience. Copy speed is very fast, at around 13 copies per minute. Copy quality is excellent, especially when using the automatic exposure adjustments. A photo mode is available as well, for making better copies of newspaper and other photographic materials.
Overall, the Canon PC1061 will impress home and small office users with its balance of features, speed, paper capacity, and above all, affordability.
