Canon MX452 Printer Review

As one of the middle models in its line, the Canon PIXMA MX452 adds wireless support and some other extras to make it a more appealing all-in-one inkjet printer for home users who want to share it. Its document feeder is great for fast scanning and copying, and it can reach ESAT speeds of up to 9.7 images per minute for black and 5.5 images per minute for color, all while using affordable Canon MX452 printer ink to save users money.

In contrast to some of Canon's budget models, the MX452 is actually much closer to a full-featured office machine, with a 30-sheet automatic document feeder and excellent scanning and copying features that include many ways to digitally share documents. Technologies like AirPrint make printing from mobile devices a snap, and a Print Your Days feature can access Facebook photos to print them automatically as an archive of activities.

The wireless support of the MX452 is an upgrade from the MX392 model, but it still doesn't include a wired ethernet port, which some users might prefer. The device itself is a little bulkier than some of the smaller all-in-one inkjet models on the market, but still reasonably compact, with measurements of 7.9x18.1x15.2 inches and a weight of only 19 pounds that doesn't include the weight of the PIXMA MX452 printer ink.

When users go to replace the Canon MX452 ink cartridges, they can choose between standard and high-capacity versions for better control of the cost per page. The high-capacity "XL" PIXMA MX452 ink cartridges can provide up to 300 pages for black and 400 pages for color, which makes the long-term cost of Canon MX452 ink more economical.

The bonus of wireless support makes the Canon MX452 a good middle-of-the-road choice for its model line. Those who want even more extras and additional capacity may want to consider upgrading to a model like the MX922, however.
