Unlike some of the budget all-in-one inkjet printers in its lineup, the Canon PIXMA MX392 adds some advanced features like an automatic document feeder, and still comes in at a low price. ESAT print speeds are rated at 8.7 images per minute for black and 5 images per minute for color, and prices for replacement Canon MX392 printer ink are very reasonable.

The MX392 is a significant upgrade from the budget models with only a flatbed scanner, but it is also a bit bulkier. Its dimensions are 7.9x18.1x15.2 inches and it weighs 19 pounds without the PIXMA MX392 ink installed. This is still compact enough for most home offices, but it is worth noting for those with extremely limited space. The document feeder can hold up to 30 sheets, and is well-worth a little extra bulk, as users can scan pages very rapidly.

The main downside of the machine is its lack of wireless support, offering only a USB connection. The input paper capacity of 100 sheets is a little limited, but probably a good fit for most home users. Extra features like Print Your Days allow for easy access to Facebook photos and other services, but the lack of AirPrint and other mobile printing protocols tend to hamper its functionality.

Even though it doesn't include the same features as its larger cousins, it does use the same type of printer ink. This makes the Canon MX392 ink cartridges more affordable due to the shared design. For a lower cost per page, buyers should choose the high-capacity "XL" versions of PIXMA MX392 ink cartridges, which provide up to 400 pages for color and 300 pages for black.

The MX392 may be a stripped-down, more affordable device than other inkjet models in its lineup, but it still offers the same speed and many of the same features, as long as buyers don't need wireless support. With low-cost Canon MX392 ink, it is a great value with low operating expenses.
