Canon MP830 Printer Review

The Canon MP830 inkjet printer is an all-in-one unit built for home or small offices costing around $250. Known as Canon's "print-copy-can-fax powerhouse", the Pixma MP830 delivers what its name promises. Using black printer ink, it can print up to 30 pages a minute, and using color MP830 ink, it can print up to 24. It is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Most standard paper sizes are supported by the unit—like 4x6, 4x8, 5x7, 8x10, letter, legal and credit card. Two sided printing is available using the auto document feeder. The copier can copy at a speed of 29 copies per minute for black and 24 copies per minute for color Pixma MP830 ink. The scanner and fax machine are also relatively speedy. It is a little bulky and large, weighing 32.3 pounds and measuring 19.7x19.2x11.5 inches.

In the box, five Canon MP830 ink cartridges are included—pigment black, cyan, yellow, black and magenta. These can be changed individually, which keeps cost of maintaining the unit and waste of printer ink both down. The Canon MP830 ink cartridges are known for their beautiful, precise finished products as well as sharp images produced. The Pixma MP830 ink isn't expensive, but does run out quickly, which could be a downside for many budget-conscious users.

User reviews are fairly positive, but there are a few negative aspects when considering this unit as well. Consumers say that it is reliable and easy to use. Most also enjoy its fast print speeds. The big complaints with consumers were its high Canon MP830 ink consumption and heavy nature. All in all, it's a decent inkjet printer, with decent features, at a decent price—but that's about it.
