Another addition to the multipurpose line of printers designed to make small business and home use easier, the Canon Pixma MP760 inkjet multipurpose printer adds a couple of new features not available in the earlier MP750. A 2.5" LCD screen gives detailed information, a new fax function and most photo cards can be read directly. Like the MP750, it prints at 25 pages per minute in black and 17 for color. The copier has a 35-page feeder for fast copying. It also sorts the copies in batches automatically. Amateur photographers should be able to match photo lab quality with this model.

A nice feature this printer offers is a film negative and color slide scanner that allows for printed photos or the ability to archive photographic records. Resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi is sufficient to make very high quality photos including 4" x 6" borderless prints using the photo cartridges available. Weighing only 27 pounds and 19.1" x 18.6" x 10.5", it should be easy to place. It will take letter, legal, #10 envelopes, credit card size, 4"x 6", and 5" x 7" media in various types for most print jobs. The 5-color system makes it possible for more detailed prints with sharper colors. In addition to the regular color selection, there are two photo-specific cyan and magenta tanks that add to the palette. Inkjet cartridge yields are up to 420 pages for black and up to 280 for color.

This model incorporates a USB interface and supports both Windows 98 and up and Mac 10.1 and up platforms that make setup simple. In addition, digital cameras with Pictbridge compatibility can deliver prints directly.

This printer gets decent reviews by most expert sites like CNET and Cameratown.com. The reviewers commented that it performed very well for a printer in its price range. One remarked that a photographer using this printer would benefit from the multiple media card slots instead of having to hook up the camera.
