Canon MP510 Printer Review

The Canon Pixma MP510 is a middle-end multipurpose inkjet printer with scanning and copying capabilities. It does lack a faxing feature, which would make it more suitable for small offices. Rather, the MP510 belongs in the homes of amateur photographers and families with a love for digitally capturing memories.

Having this unit eliminates the inconvenience of going to a store and paying to print pictures. The MP510 has the ability to make professional quality photos and at a quick pace. It can produce a borderless 4x6 color photo in as little as 47 seconds. It can also print up to 25 pages using black Canon MP510 ink and up to 17 in color. It makes copies at the same rate, and using the Dial Color Gamut Processing Technology, the Pixma MP510 ink is guaranteed to make copies that are true to the original.

There are over 1,600 nozzles found in this inkjet printer, each one enhancing the quality of color and producing at a resolution of 600x600 dpi with black printer ink and 4800x1200 dpi in color. The Canon MP510 ink is ejected through these nozzles in tiny 2 picoliter drops. This unit was an update to its sibling model, the MP500, yet was priced $30 cheaper. The MP500 had 5 printer ink tanks, whereas there are only 4 Pixma MP510 ink cartridges. Another thing the MP510 lacks is an auto duplexer, and the 1.9" LCD used for previewing images from memory cards and digital cameras is about 7" smaller than the LCD on the older model. It does, however, have two paper trays for regular paper and photo paper.

The unit is priced around $150-$200 and replacement Canon MP510 ink cartridges are available for very reasonable prices. The MP510 is affordable and produces beautiful and realistic prints. It may not be the best, but it certainly does not disappoint.
