For those who need high quality prints from an inkjet unit, the Canon Pixma MP280 is worth considering. A printer, copier and scanner all in one, it offers everything small offices may need. However, fax capabilities are not offered, like they are with much of the competition. The size of 17.8x13.2x6 inches will make it easy to place anywhere, and its 12.1 pound weight will make it easy enough for anyone to move around.
To operate this unit, only two tanks of Canon MP280 ink are needed—one filled with black and one filled with color printer ink. High capacity and standard capacity options are both offered. Envelopes, photo paper and plain paper are all supported, and sizes of up to 8.5x14 inches are compatible. The biggest complaint when it comes to the MP280, though, is its slow speeds. Pages only print at speeds of 8.4 pages per minute and 4.8 pages per minute for black-and-white and color prints, respectively.
When it comes to this machine, there are some positives and negatives. Users love the quality of the output and praise it often, as well as inexpensive upfront price. It is applauded for its ease of use and simple setup too. Most find that the Canon MP280 ink cartridges are also very easy to install and replace. When it comes to complaints, though, consumers dislike how slow it operates and find that the overall cost of maintenance can get a little pricey due to the low yields of the Pixma MP280 printer ink.
One thing to keep in mind is that remanufactured Canon MP280 ink is always available from third party vendors. These tanks of printer ink may cost a lot less, but they won't produce less pages or offer lower quality than the genuine OEM Pixma MP280 ink cartridges.

The Canon PIXMA MP280 is a photo-centric all-in-one inkjet printer that can also scan and copy. With its sharp resolution of 4800x1200 dpi, it produces beautiful color photos, and offers features like Auto Photo Fix II to help users get the best results from their prints. It can output a 4x6-inch photo in approximately 43 seconds, but it does lack networking or wireless support.
You will need to have the printer powered on, then open the paper tray so you can access the top cover. Lift up from the paper tray area to open the printer’s cover, and make sure the plastic lever slides into place to prop it up.
After a moment, the carriage will move the Canon MP280 ink cartridges toward the center to be replaced. The cover with a B contains the black cartridge, and the cover with a C contains the color cartridge. You must pinch the two handles together to release the cover, and then you can lift it up out of the way. Then simply grasp the cartridge handle and pull it out of the machine.
Start unpacking the new PIXMA MP280 ink cartridge by opening the box and carefully opening and removing the plastic bag. It may come with a protective tape strip, which you can grasp and pull to remove, or it may come with a plastic cover, which is removed by pinching the top and bottom handles together.
Slide your new MP280 ink cartridge into the opening, making sure it rests flat, then close the small cartridge cover. Make sure you don’t force it closed.
Lift the printer’s top cover a bit, and push the prop lever backward, so that it starts to fold up as you gently lower the top cover into place.
You are now ready to resume printing with your Canon PIXMA MP280 printer.
