The Canon Pixma MP270 is an all-in-one inkjet printer, scanner and copier that will fit perfectly in home offices. With a very light weight of 12.3 pounds, buyers can move it around whenever needed without any hassle whatsoever. Finding a spot for it will be easy enough too, thanks to its small size of 17.8x13.2x6.1 inches. To operate it, only two Pixma MP270 ink cartridges are needed—black and tricolor. The tricolor holds cyan, magenta and yellow Canon MP270 ink.

The speeds are the biggest downfall when it comes to this machine. Black-and-white prints can be produced at speeds of 8.4 pages per minute, while the color prints can print out in 4.8 pages per minute. These speeds probably won't suffice for most buyers, but for home users with minimal needs it may work just fine. The copier has the ability to produce 20 copies per original document, and the scanner can reach interpolated resolutions of 19200x19200 dpi.

Overall, the reviews of this machine are pretty positive. Users love the upfront price and compact size of the unit, and the photos created will look sharp and professional. Copying functions are praised often, as well as its scanning feature. No matter how many positives there are, of course there are some complaints as well. The first is that it does not come with a USB cord when purchased, so buyers must buy one separately before operation can begin. Buyers also wish replacement Canon MP270 ink cartridges were a little more affordable.

If the cost of Canon MP270 ink is too much, consider buying remanufactured printer ink from third party vendors. A fraction of the price, these tanks of Pixma MP270 ink will produce the same high quality and page yields as the original OEM. The only difference between OEM printer ink and remanufactured is the price.

The Canon PIXMA MP270 provides excellent photo printing capabilities, along with copying and scanning as well. It has a PictBridge port for connecting a digital camera, and the Easy-WebPrint EX feature can trim out unwanted images and other information from web pages to help save ink.

Although the model shown here differs in appearance, the process is the same.

Start with the printer powered on, then open the front paper tray and gently lift the top cover up. Note that the cover lifts from below the scanner lid. A prop lever slides out on the right side to hold the cover in place.

The covers for the two PIXMA MP270 ink cartridges are marked with a B for black and a C for color. Pinch the small handles together on the cover you wish to open, then lift it all the way up. Grip the small handle on the cartridge to lift it out.

You can now open the box for your new Canon MP270 ink cartridge and remove the cartridge from the plastic bag. Your cartridge may come with a plastic protector, which can be removed by pinching the top and bottom handles, or it may come with a small tape strip that you can gently pull to remove.

With your new MP270 ink cartridge prepared, slide it into the opening inside the printer, making sure it sits flat, then lower the cover until it snaps.

Close the top cover by lifting it up slightly and pushing backward on the prop lever to fold it up as you lower the cover down. Lower it slowly to avoid damaging your printer.

You are now ready to resume printing with your Canon PIXMA MP270 printer.
