Canon MP210 Printer Review

The Canon MP210 is an all-in-one inkjet device that serves as a scanner, copier and printer. It produces quality photos at a decent rate which makes it great for home use. However, it lacks the features necessary for small business or high volume use. It can print up to 22 pages per minute in black printer ink and up to 17 pages per minute in color. It can also print a lab quality 4"x6" picture in less than 50 seconds. The Pixma MP210 inkjet printer scans with a resolution of 600dpi and 48 bit color depth. It also makes up to 22 copies per minute in black and 17 copies per minute in color.

The Canon MP210 has a modern, sleek look to it, and at 13 pounds, is relatively portable. The measurements are 17.7" (L)x13.9"(W)x6.7"(H). The input sheet has a capacity of 100, and the MP210 offers double sided printing. It is compatible with Windows and Mac. It can print on various types of paper—ranging from standard letter to credit card to photo stickers. The best feature of this unit is the direct printing from digital cameras and camera phones, thus eliminating the need for a PC.

As in most Canon inkjet printers, the FINE technology is used. This technology consists of nozzles, 1,472 in this particular machine, that dispense many tiny drops of Canon MP210 ink per inch. There are only two solid ink tanks, one containing black printer ink and the other a tri-color with cyan, magenta and yellow. These Pixma MP210 ink cartridges can be replaced for under $20 unless the consumer prefers high capacity which will cost them around $25. The resolution for these prints is 4800x1200dpi for color and 600x600dpi for black. When using special Canon paper products, the Canon MP210 ink makes high quality prints that can last up to 100 years.

Experts and consumers agree that this unit is solid for the price tag. When it came out in 2007, it was priced around $200, now it can be picked up for around $100, if not less. When compared to similar models in the price range, the MP210 tests slower and lacks important features, such as a slot for direct memory card printing. It appears that Canon put money into the speed and quality, rather than the features. The control paneling can be confusing, and some consumers think it burns through the Canon MP210 ink cartridges way too fast.
