Canon MG8120 Printer Review

All-in-one machines are becoming more and more popular as time goes on, and why wouldn't they? Having one machine that performs all the functions needed in an office is not only convenient, but it is efficient too. Printing, scanning and copying, the Canon Pixma MG8120 inkjet does lack the faxing feature that many offices may need; however, for home users generally fax machines are not imperative. Weighing only 23.6 pounds and having a compact size of only 18.5x15.5x7.9 inches, it's hard to believe that three machines are packed into one.

There are six Canon MG8120 ink cartridges used in conjunction with this machine. These tanks of printer ink are cyan, yellow, magenta, black, pigment black and gray. Most inkjet printers offer black, cyan, yellow and magenta as standard colors; however, the gray is unique and will help make certain documents, like black-and-white photos turn out with excellence. Both black tanks of printer ink come in a high yield form—the pigment black Pixma MG8120 ink cartridge last 340 pages, while the high capacity black will stick around 4,335 pages before needing replaced.

When printing with Canon MG8120 ink, the speeds aren't as fast as some competing models on the market. The black-and-white prints can only be produced at a rate of 12.5 pages per minute, while color prints will print out at a rate of 9.3 pages per minute. Up to 99 copies can be produced from each original document using Pixma MG8120 ink, and reductions and enlargement features are offered from 25% to 400%. Automatic duplex printing is available, as well as masking copying and gutter shadow correction features. Resolutions as high as 9600x2400 dpi are possible when using color Canon MG8120 ink, which means every document will look detailed and sharp. Overall, there aren't too many complaints when it comes to this unit.
