Canon LC3175 Printer Review
The Canon LC 3175 laser fax is designed for the medium or large office environment. Its Super G3 transmission speeds and excellent print quality make it a great choice for buyers who have mid-volume and high-quality faxing needs.
The Canon LC 3175 laser fax has a few features that are somewhat uncommon for a fax machine. First, it has the option of dual line capability, allowing it to connect to two phone lines for sending and receiving faxes simultaneously, essentially acting as two fax machines in one. Second, whereas many fax machines act as a basic laser printer, the Canon LC 3175 is an impressive monochrome laser printer, with network sharing capability built right in.
The unit also supports PC Faxing, allowing users on the network to send faxes as easily as printing a document from their computer. This saves paper by not having to print a document before faxing it, and usually results in much better quality faxes as well. The usual fax features are included, such as a 448-page memory for storing incoming faxes for later retrieval, and secure mailboxes are supported, allowing users to keep sensitive documents safe from prying eyes.
Canon LC 3175 toner cartridges have a capacity of 5,000 pages. Users can get more pages from each black laser toner cartridge by enabling the toner save option, with only a slight reduction in print quality. The fax toner cartridge is easy to remove and install, and it is also very affordable.
Print speed is impressive, at up to 17 pages per minute when printing at 600 dpi resolution, and up to 8.5 pages per minute at 1200 dpi resolution. The 1200 dpi resolution gives the unit excellent print quality, with sharp text and good graphics quality.
Overall, the Canon LC 3175 may be too pricey for smaller offices, but high-volume offices will appreciate its speed, expandability, and top-notch print quality, as well as its security features.
