Canon iPF6100 Printer Review
A large-format printer is designed to appease the needs of businesses that print on a large-scale. For instance, an architecture company needs to print big blue prints when building something or an advertisement company needs a machine with the capacity to print a large banner that will be seen in grocery stores or malls. Measuring 46.5x33.9x39.1 inches and weighing nearly 150 pounds, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6100 seems to be just the powerhouse inkjet printer that these types of companies need. Though it will take up a lot of space and be virtually impossible to move with wheels, once this plotter is in place, the production value of that business will skyrocket.
The iPF6100 is unfortunately not wireless, rather it is connected by either USB or ethernet. The ethernet interface allows users to share this inkjet printer on a standard network. The LCD on the top panel simply gives status updates, and the built-in memory is an impressive 384 MB. This amount of memory provides the ability to save and print larger documents by volume not width.
Featuring a 12-color system, the accuracy of the graphics and images that are created is astounding. Even the 2400x1200 dpi resolution created by imagePROGRAF iPF6100 ink doesn't truly shed light on the magnitude of professional quality this machine is capable of creating. Small drops of Canon iPF6100 ink are dispensed through nozzles in the FINE technology printing system. Each drop of printer ink is 4 picoliters and will adhere to various media types such as photo paper, banners, fine art paper, satin photo paper and opaque paper.
Canon imagePROGRAF ink cartridges are cyan, yellow, magenta, black, photo cyan, photo magenta, green, red, matte black, gray and photo gray. Unfortunately, they do not last forever. Replacement imagePROGRAF iPF6100 ink cartridges are available online from the manufacturer or third party vendors. Remanufactured printer ink is also available for a lower price.
