From the PIXMA line of Canon printers comes the iP6000D. This is an entry level photo printer for photography enthusiasts. The Canon PIXMA iP6000D ink prints a 4" by 6" color photo in up to 1.2 minutes and a 8" by 10" color enlargement in about 3 minutes.
Dimensions for the iP6000D are 16.9"w by 12.3"d by 7.7"h. The Canon iP6000D ink cartridges offer printing on a wide variety of media. This includes two-sided photo paper, high resolution photo paper, semi-gloss and matte photo paper, transparencies, envelopes and plain paper. The Canon iP6000D inkjet cartridges print color and black and white at a maximum resolution of 4800 by 1200 dpi.
Capable of printing photos from cell phones equipped with infrared capabilities, the iP6000D also accepts several memory card formats into its card slots. It also includes a 2.5" LCD screen with search capability, as well as view and edit capability. In addition to infrared communication, the iP6000D offers USB connectivity. Compatible operating systems include Mac 9.x, Mac X10.2.1 and later and Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP. The bundled software includes Canon's PhotoRecord and Canon's Easy-WebPrint, as well as drivers.
The Canon PIXMA iP6000D inkjet can print borderless prints and is energy-star qualified. Reviews by private owners lamented the poor photo quality, but this was a minority view. Many liked the quiet operation and the duplex-printing feature. Professional reviews added the high-capacity paper loading feature and LCD screen as useful features. They also like that Canon cut the price on the iP6000D compared to its predecessor. PC World liked that Canon added red and green ink, but pointed out its slow text printing speed.
Even when first introduced, the iP6000D was a reasonably priced printer. That may be even more incentive to pick one up today. Also, for photo printing, it delivers good speed and excellent results.
