When it comes to personal photo printers, few manufacturers can compete with the quality and sophistication of Canon machines. Though different series may have different features and functions that make them uniquely suited for specific users, all of the devices offer reliability and lab-quality photos. One of the newest releases is the Canon PIXMA iP4920. This inkjet color printer can deliver vivid 4x6 inch borderless pictures in 20 seconds.
Compatible with Windows, Mac and other major operating systems, the iP4920 will be conveniently easy to set up. There are 5 Canon iP4920 ink cartridges that will need to be installed during the initial set up, but they are designed to easily snap into place. Each PIXMA iP4920 ink cartridge should have clear stickers or words to help users determine which slot it slides into.
There are four dye-based printer inks- magenta, cyan, yellow and black. There is also an addition pigment-based black Canon iP4920 ink that is specifically for black-and-white text documents. When printing with the black ink, a maximum resolution of 600x600 dpi can be reached. However, when using the color PIXMA iP4920 ink for graphics or photos, the resolution can get up to 9600x2400 dpi. This quality rivals local photo labs that specialize in printing pictures that accurately reflect the original image.
The standard connection to a PC is via USB port, however PictBridge connections are available which allow users to print directly from a digital camera or memory card. There are over 4,500 nozzles used to dispense droplets of Canon iP4920 ink. The paper is held in a 150-sheet input tray, which is accompanied by a 150-sheet output tray. The speed is not overwhelmingly fast, but the quality of each print makes up for it. So much strength and performance rests in the 12 pound Canon Pixma iP4920.
