This unit has a 4,608-nozzle print head and a four dye-based system with the additional pigment-based black Pixma iP4500 ink. This addition helps give photos improved clarity and text documents more precision. The printer ink resolution is good, 600X600 dpi for standard black Canon iP4500 ink and 9600x2400 dpi for color.
