High-quality results and a low price set the Canon Pixma ip3600 apart from similar priced printers. It has included features that rival pricier printers. With a respectable 26-ppm speed for black and 17-ppm speed for color, it performs a bit better than others in this price category. It is a little larger than some printers in this class. The Canon Pixma ip3600 ink printer is a great choice for home users and home workers.

With dimensions of17 inches (w) by 11.7 inches (d) by 6 inches (h), this printer is a little large for a small desk. The resolution is a nice 9600x2400 dp allowing for color photo prints rivaling color labs. Store both plain and photo papers at the same time with a dual tray feed system. The printer can also handle several types of paper media including 4 x 6 inch photo stock. The Canon ip36000 ink cartridges are supplied in a five-color set up with a 500-page yield for black and about a 100-page yield for each Canon ink cartridge. The actual color page yield is higher for the Canon ip3600 inkjet cartridge, if you are not printing one color at a time. The duty cycle comes in at about 4,100 pages, which is normal for Canon printers in this class.

Windows and Mac operating systems work seamlessly with this printer. A PictBridge USB type cable (sold separately) connects the Canon Pixma ip3600 to the computer. A patented printer head with fine nozzles that uses pigment-based black ink and dye-based color inks allows for sharp text and photo prints that come out dry to the touch, even with vivid colors. The software is simple to use and readily available at the Canon website.

The design of the Canon PIXMA iP3600 is focused on sharp photo quality and convenient features to get the best quality output. Users can connect a PictBridge camera to the front USB port for quick direct prints, or use the Auto Photo Fix feature of the included software to make quick adjustments for better results.

With your printer turned on, open the output paper tray at the front, then lift up from inside the opening to gain access to the Canon iP3600 ink cartridges.

The carriage for the iP3600 ink cartridges will slide to the center, and the empty cartridge will flash rapidly. Press the small plastic lever toward the back of the machine until the cartridge releases, then grab it and pull upward to remove it from its slot.

Prepare the new PIXMA iP3600 cartridge by removing it from its box and the plastic bag, then removing the packing materials. Start by removing the small tape strip on top by pulling in the direction the arrows are pointing, then remove the cartridge from the plastic protector by prying the small plastic lever toward the cartridge and away from the orange protector.

Align the new Canon iP3600 ink cartridge with the opening in the printer, then press down from the top until the plastic lever clicks into place. After a moment, the light should be steady, indicating a full cartridge.

Lower the cover down. Lower it slowly to avoid any damage to the printer.
