Canon iP3500 Printer Review

The Canon Pixma iP3500 is a basic color photo printer in a long line of virtually identical inkjet units. There are no identifying features that would make the iP3500 stand out from the similar models, but it is still a reliable and useful piece of equipment for any home office. It can print a page using only black printer ink in 2.4 seconds and a page in color in 3.5 seconds. This output rate is pretty average, but combined with the quality of the prints, it earns 4 or 5 stars.

Pixma iP3500 ink cartridges are installed and replaced separately, saving the consumer's money and preventing useless waste. This printer ink management system is common now in inkjet units. There are 4 Canon iP3500 ink cartridges in this machine, along with 1,600 nozzles. These nozzles distribute very tiny drops of the Pixma iP3500 ink per inch. Thousands of droplets are painted on the page every second, creating a resolution of 4800x1200 dpi. The high resolution does tend to eat through the Canon iP3500 ink, but replacements are inexpensive and easy to find.

The iP3500 has built-in dual paper trays for convenience when using different kinds of paper, and a feature known as Auto Image Fix which enhances and brightens all images to get the best results. This unit is compatible with Windows and Mac, and even supports Vista. For a printer manufactured about 10 years ago, the USB 2.0 HI-speed interface is an impressive feature and makes image transferring a much faster process.

The Canon Pixma iP3500 is a solid inkjet printer, but it fails to offer anything original. Canon of course provides special paper, and mixed with the Canon iP3500 ink, pictures can last a long time. This unit is a viable option for basic needs but is nothing special.
