The Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5235A has a high price tag, and it may not justify it with performance. At maximum speeds of 35 pages per minute, this multifunction color laser printer lags behind other models in its class. It does have an intuitive control panel and advanced features like mobile printing, but Canon C5235A printer toner is also fairly expensive to replace.

The base model of the C5235A is already fairly bulky, requiring a space of 33.5x28 inches, and it weighs over 300 pounds, including the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5235A toner supplies. Extra features will add even more to its size. The paper capacity starts out at 1,200 sheets, for example, but adding extra paper trays can bring it up to a maximum of 5,000 sheets, also expanding its size. Options like duplexing and finishing can be added as well.

Along with high-quality color printing, the unit also supports some modern and advanced features. Mobile printing features let users print from smartphones, tablets, and other devices with ease. Keycards can be used to track employee usage and also restrict access to certain features, as well as keep secure documents safe. The intuitive control panel tilts for a better viewing angle, and makes controlling the different features and functions simple.

The downside of so many laser models is expensive toners, and unfortunately Canon C5235A toner is no different. With each color imageRUNNER C5235A toner cartridge providing 38,000 pages and the black supply providing 44,000 pages, yields are high. But the cost of replacing the four Canon ADVANCE C5235A toner cartridges will really add up, and will likely be too much even for average office budgets.

The C5235A has several great features going for it, and its versatility and upgradability are impressive. Unfortunately, its slow speeds are disappointing, and its high upfront cost and expensive supplies make it too expensive to recommend.
