The Canon imageCLASS D530 is a multifunction laser copier that can also print and scan. It has a small footprint and small frame that will be a comfortable fit in tight spaces, though some buyers might wish for an automatic document feeder for quicker scanning. It can output prints and copies at up to 26 pages per minute, and its first page out time is fairly quick, at around 5.8 seconds. Prices for Canon D530 printer toner are reasonable.
The design of the D530 has a focus on simplicity. It measures 12x15.4x17.2 inches, so it should fit comfortably on a desktop for personal use. The unit includes a USB port for direct connection, but doesn't include any kind of networking support for sharing, limiting it to individual use. Users who do a lot of scanning and copying may find the lack of an ADF to be a problem, but the flatbed scanner can support media up to letter size.
Copy features include zooming from 25 to 400%, and presets for text and photos that help to optimize output for the best results. An ID Card Copy feature makes it easy to copy two-sided ID cards without the need to print and re-scan paper, which would otherwise waste imageCLASS D530 toner unnecessarily.
Replacement toners are easy to find from multiple vendors. The Canon D530 toner cartridges can provide up to 2,100 pages before expiring, and the drum is included in the unit, for easier maintenance. Compatible imageCLASS D530 toner cartridges are available for lower prices, and make for a more affordable option.
For personal users who need to print, scan, and copy from their desktop, and don't mind the lack of color printing, the imageCLASS D530 is an affordable solution with solid output quality and speeds. The low cost of Canon D530 toner also makes it very affordable to operate.
