The Canon imageCLASS D520 multifunction laser printer inherits the fast speeds and sharp output quality of larger imageCLASS models, without the extra cost or the bulk. This makes it a great solution for the small office, with speeds of up to 25 pages per minute, and users will find Canon D520 printer toner very affordable.
The design of the D520 is similar to many of the all-in-one inkjet models on the market, but users get the benefit of laser-quality output and inexpensive toners. There is a flatbed scanning platen and cover on the top of the device, along with the control panel. It does lack an automatic document feeder, so users who will frequently need to scan, copy, or fax multi-page documents might be disappointed.
While the D520 doesn't include traditional faxing, it provides a PC Fax option when connected to a computer via USB. This allows users to send and receive faxes directly to the computer, and doesn't require a phone line or long distance charges. Windows, Mac, and Linux computers are supported, and an ethernet port is included for sharing on a network.
Users looking to save on operating costs will love the low-power mode, which automatically reduces power consumption. The duplex option can help save paper by printing on both sides of each sheet, and the Toner Save mode can reduce the amount of imageCLASS D520 toner used per page.
The imageCLASS D520 toner cartridges have a surprisingly large capacity of 2,100 pages, considering the unit's compact frame. This will allow each Canon D520 toner cartridge to last longer and provide more value before needing replacement. Users who choose compatible Canon D520 toner instead of OEM supplies will have the lowest cost per page.
With excellent scanning, copying, and printing features in a small package, the Canon D520 is a great value. It won't give users the fastest speeds in its class, but its high-quality prints and affordable operating costs are worth the tradeoff.

The Canon imageCLASS D520 is a multifunction laser printer with printing, copying, and scanning capabilities. It has advanced features like automatic duplexing for convenience, though it lacks network sharing features for multi-user office environments.
Raise the top panel by lifting from the front of the machine, than raise the smaller toner panel as well. You should see the imageCLASS D520 toner cartridge. Look for the handle, and pull it straight out of the opening.
Take your new Canon D520 cartridge out of the box carefully, discarding the packing materials and removing it from its bag. Take a moment to distribute the toner inside by shaking the cartridge a few times back and forth before you remove the packing tape.
Place one finger inside the loop of the packing tape, then pull it away from the cartridge until the tape is removed completely. Grab the end of the black paper that protects the drum and pull in the direction the arrows are pointing.
Slide the new Canon D520 cartridge into the opening, keeping it aligned with the side rails, and lower it into the machine. Press it firmly to make sure it is seated, then close the toner panel and the main panel.
You are now ready to resume printing with your Canon imageCLASS D520 printer.
