Canon C635 Printer Review

As a follow up to the C500 series of all in one machines, the Canon Multipass C635 inkjet unit was larger framed with some improvements in speed. However, there were fewer features than the later model C500s. Speeds of 6.5 ppm and color at 2.5 ppm were fast for the time. Targeted at small businesses and home business owners it was a versatile printer, fax, scanner and copier in a small desktop size. The Multipass C635 ink prices were comparable to other printer models of the time.

Canon's Multipass line of printers is built to fill in for other common office hardware. The C635 Multipass combo was designed to use printer ink cartridges and to be compact at 15.8" x 14.2" x 8.1" and 12.3 pounds. The fax function sends 6 pages per minute and supports color technology. It will send blanket messages to 57 locations. The common resolution for the printing is 720 x 360 dpi The fax can also work as a standalone. Most print media up to A4 size will work. The Canon C635 ink cartridges are the same as most of Canon's ink products. Pages yield at an average of 100 pages for color and 900 in black mode.

Windows and Mac users like the ease of installation with the generous pack of software included with this unit. A USB cable links with the computer for the scanner and printer functions. A standard phone line feeds the fax. The Canon C635 ink cartridges are one of the only complaints of owner reviews at Epinions.com–owners complain that the cartridge has low printer ink capacity.

While many of these machines are still being used, the reviews by experts have moved on to newer models. The CanonC635 inkjet office machine did not always get the best marks getting only 2.5 out of 7 stars. Some users loved it and some mentioned several "bugs" and "glitches" that weren't up to par. The inkjet part was described as too low in capacity. This all in one seems to be in need of a good tune-up.
