On letter-size paper, projects print at a quick speed of 58 pages per minute using black imageRUNNER C5870 toner. Using color Canon C5870 toner, graphics print at a speed of 16 pages per minute. The first copy out using black printer toner can print in as fast as 5 seconds, while the first color copy takes approximately 12 seconds. The ability to make up to 9,999 duplicates from an original document gives its copying feature convenient productivity. Other copy features include its ability to reduce a document to a minimum of 25% and enlarge to a maximum of 400%.

The machine uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black imageRUNNER C5870 cartridges that can easily be replaced. Its black Canon C5870 toner can yield up to 40,000 pages and the color toners can each print up to 9,500 pages.
