Canon C555 Printer Review

Canon's attempt at providing quality multipurpose office hardware resulted in the Multipass line. A notable example of these is the Canon Multipass C555 all in one, which improved on its line mates, the C530 and C545. It works at slightly higher print speeds, 5 pages per minute in black and 2.5 pages per minute in color. It added more fax capability, enabling broadcast faxes to 113 locations and more speed dial options. The Canon Multipass C555 ink requirements were the same as others in the series. Other than the mentioned changes, it is almost identical to the previous models – combining fax, printer, copier and scanner into a single package.

Because of its multiple uses, it is a little larger than most stand-alone printers. However, it is still compact at 14.4x13.4x10.9 inches and weighing only 11.2 pounds. The resolution of 760x360 dpi from Canon C555 ink cartridges compares with most color printer ink. The other function's printer ink resolution is lower but more than adequate to meet office needs. Multiple types of media will work seamlessly for print and color projects.

The Canon ink cartridges are used by many Canon printers, yielding 900 pages for black and 100 pages for color. Parallel and USB interfaces offer flexibility when Windows and Mac users hook up. Several types of software come in the package including setup, drivers, fax enhancements and Textbridge applications to improve function.

As with other printers in this series, most reviews are from owner comments. The Canon C555 inkjet office assistant generally rates well with its users. Though occasionally owners complain about the printer, generally that is because they don't understand how to use it. However, many comment that the inkjet cartridges are too small.
