Canon C3480i Printer Review

The Canon C3480i is a multifunction color laser printer designed for a high-volume office environment. Its fast print speeds and excellent print quality are impressive, and its network features will increase productivity.

The Canon C3480i goes beyond the usual expectations of a network printer. It includes a built-in network port for connecting it directly to an ethernet network. Once connected, users can access its integrated web server, which allows access to all the printer's functions, status reports, and settings. The printer also has a built-in 80 GB hard drive, allowing documents to be stored in its memory for editing, collaborating, and printing. It becomes both a printer and a server on the network.

In addition to its impressive features and functions in its standard configuration, the C3480i offers an amazing amount of expandability. Super G3 faxing capabilities can be added to the machine if needed. Paper capacity can be expanded from its initial 1,150 sheets to a maximum of 4,950 sheets with the addition of optional drawers. There is also a multitude of finishing options such as stapling and hole-punching that can be added with additional upgrade components. These options can either be pre-configured or added later, allowing users to customize the C3480i to fit their changing needs.

The unit can support all modern versions of Windows and Mac OS X, as well as Citrix MetaFrame, allowing a lot of flexibility in an office network. Drivers can be installed on host machines, or the printer can configure itself across the network. Print quality is stellar. Both color and monochrome prints look fantastic, and colors are extremely accurate. Print speed is impressive as well, at 34 pages per minute for monochrome and 30 pages per minute for color prints.

The Canon C3480i toner cartridges offer a large page yield so the user will be free to use the printer to its full potential without having to constantly replace the toners. At 14,000 pages for the color and 26,000 pages for the black, the Canon C3480i toner cartridges have an excellent toner capacity.

Overall, the Canon C3480i offers the fast speeds and large capacity that a high-volume office needs, with the expandability to meet virtually any need in the future. The upfront cost and upgrade features are expensive, but its quality is unmatched.
