Canon BJC-30 Printer Review
The Canon BJC-30 is an ultra-compact and portable color inkjet printer designed for travelers or anyone who needs a portable model that can go on the road. It includes a lithium ion battery for the ultimate in portability, and print quality is quite good. Its price is a bit high, and so is the cost of Canon BJC-30 ink.
The machine measures 1.9 inches by 11.9 inches by 4.4 inches, making it easy to fit into a typical laptop bag and carry it on the go, and it weighs only 2 pounds. It can be either plugged into the wall for power, or it can run on the included battery for extreme portability, allowing it to function practically anywhere. The battery is good for up to 100 pages before needing recharged.
While the idea of a truly portable inkjet printer is appealing, there are a few inconveniences. First, paper must be fed through one sheet at a time, which can be a little time-consuming. There is an optional 30-page sheet feeder available, but this adds extra bulk that many users may not like.
The second major problem is the high cost of printer ink, as Canon BJC-30 ink cartridges are expensive. The small capacities of Canon BJC-30 ink cartridges also means a high cost per page. The tradeoff for the extra cost of printer ink may be worth it to those who need more portability, but average users will do better with a more economical model.
The Canon BJC-30 is an impressive engineering feat, offering solid quality and speed in a printer small enough to slip into a laptop bag. Despite its many tradeoffs, it excels at the portable printing it was designed for, and the battery makes it an even better choice than its competition. However, expensive Canon BJC-30 ink makes it a niche item.
