Bulky and tall, the Canon imageRUNNER 600 is clearly designed for large offices that have printing, copying and scanning needs on a high-volume level. On the outside, it is apparent that this laser machine was built for a fast-paced work environment because it can hold multiple paper trays. The base model has two trays that hold 550 sheets and two that hold 1,500 sheets, but additional trays can be purchased to increase the maximum capacity to 7,650 sheets. There is also a bypass tray to hold all specialty media including envelopes, labels and cardstock.

The built-in memory has 2.1 GB, the hard drive has 4.2 GB worth of storage and the 200 MHz processor helps to generate a maximum production speed of 55 pages per minute. The 600 takes about 5 minutes to warm up when it has been off, but only 6 seconds to deliver the first page once it is warmed. This speed ensures overall production increase.

Toners to replace the starter Canon 600 toner cartridge that is supplied in the box upon purchase of the unit can be found at a number of third party vendors. The replacement imageRUNNER 600 toner cartridges come in packs of three, with each yielding about 33,000 pages. The highest resolution that can be reached with the Canon 600 toner is 600x600 dpi, which is actually a bit low for such a high-end office device. Text documents will be crisp and clear, but the imageRUNNER 600 toner is not ideal for printing complex graphics or images.

Weighing over 550 pounds, this laser all-in-one machine has a maximum paper capacity of 7,650 sheets, though trays sold separately will be required. There is an LCD on the top panel that gives users the ability to follow the progress of tasks as well as monitor the Canon 600 toner level.
