Canon 1730iF Printer Review
The Canon imageRUNNER 1730iF is similar to the base model 1730, but includes faxing and searchable PDF scanning in addition to the standard copy and print features. This multifunction laser device can reach print and copy speeds of up to 32 pages per minute. Canon 1730iF printer toner is quite affordably priced, and its design takes up a fairly compact footprint.
The 1730iF is built for small or medium office volumes, but won't take up a lot of space. It measures 24.8x22.1x19.75 inches, and weighs around 97.7 pounds without the imageRUNNER 1730iF toner installed. Optional upgrades such as a finishing unit, stapler, and others will add more width. The initial paper handling includes two 550-sheet paper cassettes and a 100-sheet bypass tray adds flexibility for alternate media types. The maximum capacity with all upgrades is 2,300 sheets.
The device only supports monochrome prints and copies, but color scanning and sending are included. It also has the ability to scan large stacks of documents quickly with its 100-sheet automatic document feeder, and they can be turned into searchable PDF files that are excellent for archiving. The 5.7 inch touch-panel screen is a little smaller than average, and is not a color display, but should be adequate for most uses.
The machine can provide an output resolution of 1200 dpi using black Canon 1730iF toner. The imageRUNNER 1730iF toner cartridges have decent yields of up to 15,000 pages each, so they won't need to be replaced frequently. Prices for Canon 1730iF toner cartridges are also competitive, resulting in a low cost per page.
For the small or medium office, the combination of an affordable price tag, solid output speeds, and a relatively compact design make the Canon 1730iF an appealing choice. If buyers don't mind its somewhat small screen and monochrome interface, it could be a good fit.
