The Brother MFC-8820 laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. It has fast printing speeds and well-designed multifunction features, and multiple models to meet different needs. Its bulky frame might be too large for tight spaces.

The Brother MFC-8820 is a multifunction device that can print, scan, copy, and fax. In addition to the standard faxing feature, it also support PC faxing, where users can send a fax directly from a program on their computer. This works over a direct connection, either USB or parallel, or over the network on models which include networking support. Paper capacity is 300 sheets, divided among a 250-sheet standard tray, and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray.

The unit comes in two additional models. The MFC-8820D adds automatically duplexing, or double-sided printing, which opens up more printing possibilities for users. The MFC-8820DN adds both duplexing and built-in ethernet networking. This allows the printer to be easily connected and shared across a network of multiple computers. The unit also has an embedded web interface for users to adjust settings and manage print jobs remotely through their browser.

Brother MFC-8820 toner cartridges have a capacity of 3,300 pages. A high-yield laser toner cartridge is also available with a capacity of 6,500 pages. The printer toner cartridge is a bit tricky to remove and replace, but not impossible.

Print and copy quality is excellent. Text is very sharp and detailed, with readable text even at small font sizes. Print and copy speed are both around 17 pages per minute, minus scanning time in the case of copying. This speed is very impressive for a multifunction device.

Overall, the Brother MFC-8820 laser printer is an impressive multifunction device with enough configurations to meet practically any need. Small office user will need to consider whether its bulky frame will fit in their space.
