Brother MFC-1815 Printer Review
While the Brother MFC-1815 is a fairly simple multifunction laser printer, it provides the necessary basics for a home office user, and still has solid print speeds of up to 21 pages per minute. It does have a few extras such as a phone handset and an answering system, and the cost of Brother MFC-1815 printer toner is very reasonable.
Some of the MFC-1815's features just seem downright basic, such as its automatic document feeder, which holds only 10 pages at a time. This is probably just enough for some home office users, but similar models offer more. The fax transmission speed of 14.4 Kbps is also rather slow, but so few users have a need for faxing anymore that this is a minor issue.
The paper capacity of 150 sheets is decent, and the telephone handset allows it to act as the phone and answering system for an office. The machine has a very compact design that is great for desktop use, and it weighs only 18.3 pounds, even with the Brother MFC-1815 toner installed. Variations of the base model include the MFC-1815E with an ethernet port, and the MFC-1815R with extra paper capacity.
Replacing toners is quite simple, and Brother MFC-1815 toner cartridges won't bust the budget. Replacements will also be few and far between, as Brother MFC-1815 toner cartridges have an estimated yield of 1,000 pages each. Compatible supplies are also available from third-party sellers at a significant discount from OEM supplies.
For the home office user with fairly basic needs, the Brother MFC-1815 is a strong choice and an excellent value at its low price point. Print speeds are quick, output quality is sharp, and it will meet the scanning and copying needs of the average user quite well. Those who need networking or more paper capacity should consider its upgraded model variations as well.
