The Brother HL-2130 is a fairly simple monochrome laser printer that doesn't have a lot of extra features to get in the way of its reliable operation. Thankfully, this also means it has a low price, as buyers don't need to pay for features they won't use. It has print speeds of up to 20 pages per minute, and the first page out time is a fast 10 seconds. Printer toner costs are low, as Brother HL-2130 toner is also very affordable.
The HL-2130 is really designed for small spaces, such as a home or small office, and its design illustrates this fact. It has a compact frame that would fit quite easily on a desk or even a large shelf, with a single paper drawer that can hold up to 250 sheets. There is also a single-sheet manual feed for envelopes and other alternate media. This is a very convenient option, as it means not having to empty the paper tray when printing on non-standard media.
The cost of replacing toners could be a big concern for small office users, but the low price of Brother HL-2130 toner cartridges helps to alleviate the problem. The capacity of Brother HL-2130 toner cartridges is only 1,000 pages, but this is likely a compromise for the unit's compact design. Using compatible Brother HL-2130 toner will help to bring costs down overall.
In their review of the HL-2130, CNET UK gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. They liked its sharp text quality and affordable price, but found its operating costs a little expensive compared to the competition.
Overall, home and small office users will appreciate the compact size of the Brother HL-2130, as well as its solid output quality and fast speeds. As long as its small cartridges and paper capacity are not an issue, it is a good value for its low price.

Although the model shown differs in appearance, the replacement process is the same.
The toner light on the front panel will stay lit when the cartridge is empty. Start by opening the front access panel by pulling it forward and down, then grab the handle to pull the Brother HL-2130 toner cartridge and drum assembly out together.
Set the assembly on a piece of paper or plastic to protect the surface, then press the small lever to release the Brother HL-2130 toner cartridge and pull it up and out.
Open the box for your new HL-2130 cartridge and discard the packing materials and the plastic bag. Before you remove the cover, rock the cartridge side to side a few times to distribute the toner inside a bit more evenly. Now remove the protective cover.
